Robert Andrew Henke of Greenwood died on December 27, 2011 after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born to James P. Henke and Joyce A. (Diedrich) Henke on October 24, 1962 in Cincinnati, OH. His father preceded him in death.
Rob's entire life focused on faith and family. He graduated from Indiana University and loved his Indiana Hoosiers, and remained a loyal Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. He married his beautiful wife Ellen in 1990 after meeting her at IU. He had 3 loving children; Jimmy, 17, Kristen, 15, Danielle, 11, who became the focus of his life. He loved to go camping with his family as he enjoyed the beauty of God's nature. Rob enjoyed every minute he had with his family. He coached their sports teams through Greenwood Little League, Center Grove Lassie League, and CYO sports throughout their childhood. Most importantly, he raised them in the Catholic faith at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. Jesus was the center of all that Rob did.
At the church, Rob was an usher and a member of the Haiti Committee. Rob also started his own business, Heartland Vintage Wines in 1997. He was so personable that all his customers looked forward to working with him and many became a second family to him.
Other survivors include his mother Joyce, siblings; Jamie Thompson, Jeff (Richie) Henke, Tim (Erika) Henke and Tammy (Eddie) Rowland. He dearly loved his entire Henke family which gathered every year in a crazy event known as 'Henkefest'. They were always there for each other through good times and bad. Rob was also loved by his mother and father in law Suzanne and Claude Lepine and sisters and brothers in law; Annette (John) Termini and Katie (Robby) Ingram. Also surviving are 20 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-8 Friday, December 30 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 South Meridian Street, Greenwood with a vigil service at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be at the church Saturday, December 31 at 10 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Father Rick Nagel will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Henke Family Education Fund at any Indiana Members Credit Union for the Henke children.
