V "Darleen" Rice was born in Marathon, IA July 17, 1924 to John Elmore Sundholm and Amelia Christina Olsen Sundholm. Darleen married J. (Jack) C. Rice Nov. 28, 1963 in Speedway, IN. J. C. passed away June 5, 1975. Darleen was employed at Wheaton Van Lines for 37 years retiring Dec. 31, 1991. She was administrative assistant to Mr. Wheaton and then continued to be a personal assistant to him after his retirement. Darleen resided in Eagletown-Westfield, IN. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church before her illness. After having a stroke in April, 2000, she resided in nursing homes in Pleasant Valley, IA and Carmel, IN She is survived by sisters, Virginia Hunzelmann, Onamia, MN and Delores Sundholm, Ventura, CA; a brother, Harlan Sundholm, Bettendorf, IA and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wed. Feb. 27, 2013 in Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Premier Hospice 11550 N. Meridian St. Suite 375 Carmel, IN 46032.
