Thelma LaVerne Puyear, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away 1:00 pm, Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Beech Grove Meadows in Indianapolis, IN. LaVerne was born September 17, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN daughter of Emmett and Opaline (Poe) Shircliff. Thelma was a member of the Washington High School graduating class of 1944 and had worked at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Thelma was a mother and housewife.

LaVerne is survived by her husband, Grover Puyear; daughters, Sandra Kay Purcell and her husband Patrick of Indianapolis, Suzanne Howe and her husband Rich of Monrovia; sons, Donald Puyear and his wife April of Indianapolis, Dale Wade Puyear of Altus, Oklahoma; her brother, Gary Shircliff of Cloverdale, IN; a sister, Betty Sering of Palm Coast, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Wayne Puyear and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan-10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229 with Dr. Dusty Selig officiating. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday.
