Russell W. Gwin, 93, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Emeritus of Greenwood.
On May 7, 1918 Russell was born to Harry and Margaret Gwin in Indianapolis. He was married to the former Margaret Carnes in December of 1952. Russell worked for Bemis Bag Company of 50 years and Queens Group. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 252, and the Moose Lodge 2079, both in Greenwood.
Russell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Lois Gwin; step-daughter: Martha Carter and her husband, Marvin; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by a step-daughter Clara Druen, two sisters: Mary Ragsdale and Loraine Freeman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Stirling-Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, with Pastor Jeff Stratton of Southport Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Acton Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
