Richard R. Taylor Sr., 68, of Kokomo, passed away at 1:40 AM, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 9, 1944 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Robert L. Taylor and Veda (Sheets) Taylor. On October 30, 1983, in Kokomo, he married LaDonna Jean Taylor, and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2004. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an independent truck driver for many years. He was a co-founder of Fellowship of Hope in Kokomo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Survivors include a son, Richard Ray Taylor Jr. and wife Elaine, Amboy; son, Peter R. Taylor, Kokomo; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Taylor and companion Maximo Gomez, Greentown; daughter, Cynthia Jane Taylor, Kokomo; brother, Gerald D. Taylor, Lafayette; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; loving companion, Diana Brewer, Kokomo, and her grandchildren referred as "grandpa Dickey's grandbabies".
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Connie Sue Taylor.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main Street with Pastor Kenn Freeland. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery, with military honors by the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Teams and the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. A "carry in" dinner will take place at Fellowship of Hope, 1301 N. Webster Street, following the services, where all are invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist with expenses.
