Mary Cathryn Powell, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 8:13 AM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her residence.
She was born on September 28, 1920 in Kokomo to the late Jesse and Lilian (Maze) Herron. In June of 1940 in Kokomo, she married Chester D. Powell. Mr. Powell passed away September 5, 1995.
Mary graduated from Kokomo High School with the class of 1939. She worked for Hynds Drug Store as a cashier, and at Kingston, on the assembly line. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting, crafts and her garden. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Mary was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving is her; two children; Gary Powell, Center, IN, Janet James, Plainfield, IN, five grandchildren; Lisa Richardson, Plainfield, IN, Mark (Carol) James, Indianapolis, IN, Christi (Scott) Trees, Carmel, IN, Brian Powell, Center, IN, Susan (Michael) Sitzes, Kokomo, IN, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, with Pastor Kenneth Spangler officiating . Burial will follow in Everest Memorial Park, Logansport. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2012 at the mortuary. Memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
