Linda Kay (Vernon) Parrett, 73, of Lafayette, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. Born October 3, 1939 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and LaGreta (Cripe) Vernon, Sr. Linda was a 1957 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Her marriage was to Dale R. "Rex" Parrett on September 19, 1970 in Hartsville, TN and he survives. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary for Dr. Burns, D.D.S., then for Dr. Haas and Dr. Hunter; and as a bookkeeper for John Deere. She was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a mixed league at Market Square Lanes. She enjoyed crocheting, macramé, computer games, NASCAR racing, and loved animals. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving with her husband are her two sons, Dan V. Parrett of West Lafayette and Jospeh P. "Joe" Parrett (companion, Melissa Shepherd) of Lafayette; her sisters, Bonnie Cahoon (husband, Jim) and Sandy Sharp both of Lafayette; and her brother, Thomas E. Vernon, Jr. (wife, Jeane) of Hernando Beach, FL. Also surviving is a grandson, Wyatt J.Parrett, Melissa's two children, Hunter and Kason, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with the service to follow at 7 p.m. Pastor David Doane officiating.
