John Mitchell, 71, passed away May 2, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born November 28, 1940 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Jonas and Piona Mitchell.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years. He was a member of UAW Local #1111 and Masonic Lodge #404.
John is survived by his wife, Vicki (Thompson) Mitchell; sons, Jeffrey (Anne) Mitchell and Joseph (Kimberly) Mitchell; daughters, Julie Oler and Jackie (Carl) Duchet; stepdaughter, Shawn (Brian) Lucas; brothers, Bill (Marsha) Mitchell, Tom (Jan) Mitchell, Russell, Doug and Jonas Mitchell; sisters, Fannie (Harry) Monroe and Martha Kemple; grandchildren, Phoebe, Dharma, Jake, Alex and C.C.; step grandchildren, Ripley and Cole; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Combs.
Services will be at 3 pm Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, with visitation from 1:00 until time of services.
