Demetrios Christos Sarellas 72 was a devout faithful Christian and loving father whose selflessness to Christ and the Church was unending.
Demetrios was born on December 27, 1939 in Koroni, Greece to Christos and Aglaia (Kapiniari) Sarellas. Demetrios was a self-employed certified plumber for over 45 years retiring in 2005. Demetrios was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he was involved with the Parish Council, Greek Festival Booth Chair, GOYA Youth Advisor and AHEPA. Demetrios was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna D. (Apostolakis) and daughter Aglaia Sarellas, sister Alexandra Sarellas Tsapekis, sister in laws Vasiliki Sarellas, Maria Sarellas, brother in law Theodoros Tsapekis, father in law and mother in law The Very Reverend Fr. Harry and Presbytera Aspasia Apostolakis, brother in laws Stanley Sarris, Emanuel Apostoles and John and (Betty) Apostolakis. Calling will be held Friday April 20, 2012 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 3500 West 106th Street Carmel, IN from 3 PM to 8 PM with an AHEPA Service at 7 PM and a Trisagion Service at 7:30 PM. Additional calling will be Saturday April 21, 2012 beginning at 10 AM followed by the funeral liturgy at 11 AM at the church. Demetrios is survived by his children Aspasia and Christos Sarellas, brothers Elias Sarellas, Yiannis (Chrisoula) Sarellas, Anastasios (Elizabeth) Sarellas, Panagiotis (Fotini) Sarellas, Dionisios (Eleni) Sarellas, Nikos (Evangelia) Sarellas, sister in law Irene Sarris, brother in law William (Patricia) Apostolakis, sister in law Stacey Apostoles, aunt Margarita Canellos, cousins Helen Canellos (John) Neinhuis, Styliani (Theodore) Klikizos, fifteen nephews and ten nieces and numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and God Children. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or Ladies Philoptochos Society. Flanner and Buchanan-Lawrence are handling funeral arrangements. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
