Betty Jean (Whited) Anweiler 90 of Kokomo, departed this life to be with her beloved John at 2:37am on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at North Woods Village in Kokomo. She was born on May 29, 1922 in Kokomo to the late Harry and Delpha Whited. She was united in marriage to John V. Anweiler on June 17, 1944 in Nashville, TN., where John was stationed during WWII.
Betty had worked as a secretary in the Howard County Council of Churches office and then worked for the Kokomo Center School Corporation. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, sewing, and needlepoint. She and John spent many summers gardening and camping all over the United States.
Betty was a past member of the School Belles and Business and Professional Women. She was a former member of Chapel Hill Christian Church and was a member of Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Bible study and shared her faith with everyone.
Betty is survived by a daughter; Vickie Getz (Larry), granddaughter; Staci Getz-Shane (Aaron), and great-grandchildren; Lauryn and Cole Shane. She is also survived by nephew; James F. Whited, and niece Becky Silvey and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by son-in-law Arnie Reed of Goodlettsville, TN.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, John, daughter Nancy Kay Reed, a brother; Guy Whited and an infant sister Dorothy.
A celebration of a life well lived will be from 5pm - 7pm at Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church 5051 E. 400 N. Kokomo, IN 46901. A memorial service will follow at 7pm also at the church, with Pastor Kevin Miller officiating. There was a private burial in Crown Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Betty's memory may be made to her church, Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church 5051 E. 400 N. in Kokomo. Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. assisted the family with arrangements.
